a.k.a. The *Instagram acclaimed* Coffee Shop Casey!
Happy International Women's Day! It's a day to celebrate and appreciate the women both historically and in our lives currently, particularly those we admire, and so what better way to honor this fabulous day than by writing about Casey!
Casey is one of those people that you stop and pause for a moment to ask: "wait, how does she do it all? How can I be Casey P.? ...Please teach me your ways..." Whether that is academically, career-wise, influentially, whatever realm of life you can think of, she outdoes herself. Everything about her is just so cool that it often takes a moment to collect your thoughts in order to ask her more questions about what makes Casey, Casey P. Merely being in her presence, you know that you're being elevated to the next level of cool (for the scale of coolness please click here). I met Casey through USC Helenes, which is a group of wondrous women who exude warmth and kindness, and Casey is no exception. Casey has a coffee Instagram so it was without question that we do a collaboration piece! (TM CoffeeShopCasey - brainchild behind this noteworthy union). Her bubbly demeanor and sunny disposition are exactly what I needed to brighten up what could have been just another mundane Monday morning.
The ground rules for going to Coffee with Casey (for those lucky enough in the future):
One may not drink their coffee and/or other beverage prior to the "shot" being captured
One must be ok with being asked to move in order to take said "shot"
For our millennial generation, these conditions are pretty much an unspoken rule, and if these are the only parameters to being extended an illustrious invitation, I don't think that this is too much to ask. (To the LAMILL Coffee employee, who so graciously took all our pictures, as the eight limbs between us were insufficient, THANK YOU).
At 10/11 in the morning on a Monday both coffee/tea and food were a necessity (not only did I get to spend time with Casey but this could also be considered brunch - I submit to you that it does not get better than this)*. Casey ordered a Cafe Mocha and Avocado Toast + Poached Egg, whilst I opted for the Organic Assam Sewpur Estate Tea and Bacon Breakfast Sandwich #nom. The steeped tea was rich in color, and I appreciated the glass teapot and cup as I could see the full color of the tea. It's a slightly bitter tea that does not require milk or sugar, however, I added a dash of honey to take the edge off. I wish I could comment more on the tea, but the server did not know anything about their teas, so alas that's all I've got.
Pros: This is the most hipster establishment I have visited whilst on a tE(a)scapade. You'll most likely scout some celebrities (if that's your thing) whilst sipping away. The decor is worth mentioning too - from the exterior wall made completely from glass, teapot, and cup, to the ornate mirrors - you immediately feel classy without being a classy person. They understand the Instagram game and are more than willing to help you achieve your Instagram aspirations and goals.
Cons: They (the one man who served us) didn't know anything about the tea they serve. This was a little disheartening given the selection present. It is a little on the expensive side, but if you'd like the ambiance and to transported into hipster wonderland than the price is worth it.
It was an honor and a privilege to go to tea/coffee with you Casey!
*Brunch is LIFE. If you would like to make me happy, take me to brunch + buy me ice cream
Until next time,
